I believe that even though it seemed like there were alot of flaws in the government and alot of mistakes made i do not blame those who made the mistakes. The reason i say this is because there has never been an attack like that on american soil. One mistake made was when the FAA operators called the military to warn them of the hijacked planes. Then there were crucial "minutes wasted" about which planes have been hijacked. When i saw this at first i was upset but then I realized if i was put in that situation i would be very flustered and probably be trying to put the pieces together for more than 28 minutes. My point is I do not blame anyone for the attacks on 9/11 because no one could have expected something that durastic. If there is another attack like that, i will blame the people who screwed up because the problems should have been ironed out and they all should be prepared. It was an unfortuate day and should never happen again. While watching the movie i felt very sad for the victims and their families.
I think that in some ways 9/11 has changed the way that we live. While I do not remember going on a plane before 9/11, I have heard my parents talk about the hightened security. In the documentary we watched in class "On Native Soil" the security they spoke about before the attacks was almost a joke. Watching the video and comparing it to the security I know at the airport was strange. I could not believe they let the terrorists onto the airplanes with their weapons. Because of September 11th people have become to fear flying. Besides our newfound fear, I do not think that September 11th comply changed the way that we live.
After reading all of the articles and watching "On Native Soil" in class I think that daily American life will be altered for a very long time. After 9/11 people really came together to support our country and help one another out. It also had bad effects because people started to become very paranoid and scared if it could happen again. People started watching people in the street and seeing if they thought they were a terrorist. Also airport security changed. Nowadays it takes long to get through security because you have to be checked and checked again and take off belts and shoes and phones and bags. Also the terror levels on TV kept going up and down which scared people that it could happen again. Also the news channels and media made it worse by showing videos and pictures and showing people the images all the time. I think life in America will be like this for a awhile until we work things out with the terrorists and other countries that we have problems with. I think after a long time we will be able to go back to being a little more lenient because we will have more info on how terrorists work and more plans that they have.
In regards to 9/11 I do not think that the U.S. could have avoided the attack. The terrorists had that very well planned out. We had heard about a possible attack but we did not know when or where. We could have heightened security, but who knows, terrorists could have attacked us in other ways too. Even with the heightened security there are still flaws at the airports. My friend was telling me a story of how her family was flying from Detroit to Argentenia over the Fourth of July holiday. Her brother had some fireworks in his backpack that he forgot to take out and he made it through security at every airport they were at.
