I think that the criticisms of this book are fair because they are people's opinions of it and how they perceive the book. In some ways i sort of agree with what they are saying because in some parts of the book there are things that some of the characters say that are very racist. For example, the way Chief Bromden describes the black boys. I think that it is very challenging to have a schizophrenic narrator because often you don't realize what is going on in his head or if the things he is describing actually happen in reality. It makes reading the book difficult especially when trying to understand it. I think that the book has a very good plot. But I also think that him being schizophrenic makes it hard to read and understand and take quizzes on. I don't like the book because I am not getting what is going on. I also think that all of the vernacular and details in the book can make it confusing at some points especially important things that are going on in the book. I think what’s going to happen next is that Nurse Ratched it going to do some things around the hospital to make sure that everything is under control and that people are doing what they are supposed to. I also think that McMurphy will cause more trouble around the mental hospital.
I think that the novel we are currently reading in class "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is an interesting book. It was tough to get into the book because the first few chapters were a little hard to understand but after reading the first part and starting the second part I began to enjoy the book. I thought that it was unfair for people to complain about the assignment of reading the book and the amount of pages required at certain times because they were saying they hated it before they gave it a chance. I find this book interesting because of its different point of view from other books that I have read. While it is still in the point of view of Chief he has a different perspective because people believe he is deaf so they will say anything around him. I think that McMurphy will successfully get Nurse Ratched extremely angry and turn the ward upside-down. I also think that he will figure out that Chief Bromden is not deaf or dumb and eventually become friends with him. While reading Brandon's comment I noticed the mention of racism in this book. While some people might take offense to this, the book was written at a time where saying things like Chief Bromden said was socially acceptable. The addition in the book helps the reader visualize exactly what it would be like in the ward during that time period.
So far I have really enjoyed reading "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." I think that the book gives an interesting viewpoint. I like that the story is told by someone with Schizophrenia. At first, I found the different dialect very hard to understand, but as I got farther into the book, the different dialect helped me get into it. It made me understand the feel for the setting they were in. I also like that each character is very differnt from those in all the other books that I have read.
When i was younger i watched the movie "one flew over the coo koo's nest" and didn't really find it interesting. Once i heard we were reading the book i thought oh great. But after i got 30 pages in i didnt think it was to bad. It was a little difficult for me and still is but i find it interesting. This book always keeps me wondering whats going to happen next because Mcmurphy is so crazy even though he's not actually insane. It astonishes me about how crazy the plot is of this novel. I find if i had more time to read the book i could focus in better and not skim through it like i kind of have to to get the required reading done.
