Gender Differences

Boys and girls are really different when they are young. At school they are different, at home, during activities they are always different. When I was looking for research to write for this blog i found an article on this article that did some research on scientists are saying that boys and girls brains are different. It also showed how gender differences in language seem to be biological. It said that researchers from the University of Haifa and Northwestern University showed that areas of the brain associated with language work harder in girls than it does in boys and that boys and girls use different parts of the brain when working on language tasks. Their findings said that language processing is more sensory in boys and is more abstract in girls. Rea searchers also said that it could have support for single sex classrooms. For their study they used 31 boys and 31 girls aged 9 to 15 and took fMRI tests on them to measure their brain activity when performing language tasks, such as spelling and writing. Their tests showed that girls showed greater activation in language areas of the brain than boys. In boys they found that performance depended on how hard visual and auditory areas of the brain worked. They also said this may be because of evolutionary things where men whose survival depended on whether they could hear dangerous sights and sounds. They also said that if a woman gave you directions she would do it in great detail and tell you exactly where to turn as where men would only need one thing and get distracted with other details.

  2. Brandons artile about men and women differences is very interesting. Espically about learning a different language. I find this true too. I study spanish with a female friend who happens to do way better on the tests than me. Which happens to be conmpletely unfair because i study way more than her and also try alot harder than her. After reading this i now no why she does so well. It always seems that girls do better on tests than guys in my opinnon. In the research that bradon found i was wondering if it was accurate because if they only tested 62 people does that really stand for all the 6 billion people on earth. I wouldn't be suprised if there were other tests to prove your reasearch was correct.

  3. Brandons artile about the differences of men and women is very interesting. This makes a lot of sense to me. I can think of many times that I am studying with my brother at the dining room table and he will ask me a question about his homework. I will answer the question that he had and he still will not understand what I am trying to explain to him. This could be because he is a year younger than me, but I really think that it is because he is a boy. This article can back me up because it says how boys and girls learn differently.
